"Yes it is, and if you knew what it was... you might not be my friend anymore..." He cried as tears ran down his face. "So please, don't come any closer.... please." He pleaded as his ear were still would not go down.

Chii sighed and went to closer to him to give him a hug and put his head on her shoulder. "Im sure what ever it is it fine. What is it? Murder? Assault? Wait, lemme guess, you're a molester?" she joked lightly.

"No, it's not that I just don't want to lose another friend because of what I am..." He cried as he leaned on her shoulder glad that she was there to console him. "Please, if I tell you why, you won't run away and call me a freak," Leo pleaded to Chii.

Chii nodded vigorously, happy that he would confide in her. "Yes, I won't run I promise," she said gravely, sensing that whatever Leo had to tell her was serious.

"Here you go..." Leo said as he removed his hands from his head revealing his cat ears to her. Not knowing what would happen he braced for her to start running and screaming 'Freak!' He waited, but it was silent for a while and Leo thought to himself. 'I knew it... she's just like all the rest. She's looking at my ears and laughing at me on the inside.' He then tried to move away from her as to not get anymore close to the girl he let out his secret too.

Chii just stared in awe at his ears before hugging him hard and then pulling back to look Leo's confused and worried face. "Y-You mean you have ear? I mean... Cat ears?" she asked carefully, looking straight at Leo with a serious expression.

"Yes... and I noticed, your not running or screaming. Why aren't you calling me a freak because of these just like everyone else does?" Leo was so confused, he didn't know whether to be happy or cautious. The concept of someone not running away made him stop crying though.

Grinning broadly at him, Chii almost started giggling in happiness. "I'm so glad i found someone else too!" she said happily. She closed her eyes and while clenching her fists concentrate hard, and ears appeared in her short hair and a tail curled its way down her leg shown by her skirt. "She opened her eyes shyly to see his reaction.

"You have ears too... you even have a tail." Leo looked down as he started to cry again. "I'm so... happy to finally met someone else that has ears just like me." Leo jumped up and started to look away. "Thank you, Chii... Thank you so much." Leo was so relieved that he finally met someone who understood how he felt. 'It's nice... to have such a good friend.' Leo thought to himself as he went to face the water.

Chii grinned at him. "No it's my pleasure. I haven't found anyone like me either," she admitted, staring over the lake's surface. She nervously grabbed her tail as it started swishing and accidentally hit Leo's leg. "Opps, sorry about that," she said embarrassed. "It has a mind of it's own."

"It's okay, so you have a tail... that's something new." Leo chuckled as he had no tail and thought that the ears would be bad enough. "So... Chii, why did you chase after me? What I mean is that, I'm not ungrateful or anything it's just... It's just the first time anyone actually choose to come after me before. I'm kinda glad." He explained as he just looked at Chii and smiled that goofy smile of his, and this time it was for real.

Chii thought for a second, looking out of the corner of her eye. "You know.. I don't really knows, strange as that may sound. Something just compelled me to follow you and to take you to my house in the first place," she admitted, sounding confused. She scratched her head nervously. ''Sounds dumb though."

"Actually, I don't even know why I went with you to your house in the first place." Leo questioned with a puzzled look on his face. "Maybe it was love at first site." Leo chuckled knowing his was going to most likely pay for that comment.

Chii glared at him beet red and opened her mouth to yell at him, finger pointed at his chest when Mu stirred against the tree trunk. Hurriedly Chii re-transformed, her ears and tail disappearing. "Onee-chan? Did we find him?" she asked sleepily.
After throwing a glance back adn Leo and making a ear motion, Chii hurried over to Mu and picked her up, resting Mu's wieght on her hip. "Yup, and he was here the whole time! How funny is that?" she asked Mu playfully.
All Mu could do was yawn, and she rested her head on Chii's shouder sleepily, and closed her eyes.

"Yeah, sorry I can't pop my ears back at will. It's just they pop out when I get embarrassed and you were touching my face before." Leo looking away still embarrassed by the whole thing. 'We should get going, Mu is probably really tired and it's getting late." Leo trying to change the subject, without looking too weird, it failed.

Chii nodded, her face still red too. "Here, put this over them then so no one sees," she said, picking up Mu's discarded raincoat that Mu had dropped. "I hope you don't mind it's pink."

"As long as it covers my ears till' we get inside, it would be light with neon pink for all I care." Leo chuckled as he covered his head with the raincoat as it almost resembled a bandanna. "Well, let's hurry before it gets any later." Leo suggested as he started to speed up a little.

Nodding, Chii picked up her pace as they sped towards the house. As they approached, Chii noticed a car in the driveway that hadn't been there before. She grinned, relived, and sped up her pace. "Finally she's home..." she said softly, and tried to open the door with one hand but couldn't because of Mu in her arms. She frowned and knocked her head against the door to get the attention of the person inside.

"Allow me." Leo asked as he knocked on the door, oppose to the idea that she bang her hand in trying to get someone to answer. Leo waited with Chii and Mu on the porch hoping to get inside soon, now noticing the car parked in the driveway. 'I guess her parents are home... hope they don't freak out.' Leo now thinking of his ears. He took off the raincoat to notice they were gone. "Well, that's good at least." He sighed with relief.

The sound of frantic footsteps followed by the drawing back of a latch was heard before a middle aged woman with long blond hair opened the door. She gave a sigh of relief as she let them in. "Chii, what were you thinking bringing Mu out so late? And who is he?" she asked, looking sideways at Leo as she took Mu from Chii's arms.

"I'm Leo, nice to meet you." Leo trying not to offend his friends mother. Leo whispering to Chii, "She must have been worried sick about you and Mu." As he tried to not make any sudden moves.

Chii whispered back to him saying, "Yeah, she's very overprotective of us." In a louder voice to her mom she said," Kani, he's like me," and made little ears out of her hands on top of her head.
Her gaze suddenly intent on Leo, Kani nodded and glanced over at the couch and jerked her chin over at it. "Both of you sit own while I put Mu to bed. I'll be right back, she said lightly, but her face conflicted.
Shuffling to the couch, Chii sat down and drew her legs to her chest. "I hate when she pulls the serious card out. She's not usually like this, even when she found out about me," she assured Leo.

"I still don't believe that your mom knows your secret." Leo still stunned that the mother was this serious about her daughters. "I try not to let the people close to me know about this, cause then I get embarrassed all the time and they never go away." But Leo thought to himself, 'This time though, they went away like they never popped out in the first place.

"Weeell... Kani's not my real mom, as I said earlier, but I think out of the both of us, I was the more shocked by her acceptance than even her,"she said amused as she remembered something. "Mu doesn't know, I don't intend to tell her because she's think it would be so cool she's have to tell everyone, and that's the last thing I need, people to know and exploit me."
