Sydra raised an eyebrow at Ren's glare.

"What?" She snapped.

Tori growled at Sydra.

"Stop it. It's not fair." Tori snapped.

"I don't know what your talking about." Sydra stated waving off Tori's behavior, letting Tori know who's boss.

Sydra smirked and continued on her merry way.

Ren had to lighten up his muscles so that he wouldn't drop Aya and charge after Sydra.
"Tori. Could you ellaborate me as to what the hell is going on between those two?"

"I can't, Master Ren. It would endanger Milady unless Sydra told you herself." Tori stated.

Ren's brow furrowed, darkly. He gazed up at Tori with an immense fury resonating from his normally calmed aura. This wasn't going to settle with him. No, not when so much had been going on. He refused to be left in the dark over something so crucial.
"Tori, I demand that you tell me."

"I can't. I'm sorry, Mas-"

"Well since the other one knows already." Sydra smiled and turned to see Ren still out of earshot with Yoh and Kaze. "I have been messing with Ai-chan's mind. That's the reason she's weak and the reason she fell asleep. Happy, China boy?"

Ren was silent for a moment. So this girl... what was her motive? For that matter, what the hell was her medium? What did she do? It couldn't have anything to do with furyoku... Augh, he couldn't even think clearly! All he could do was stare at that cocky smirk she wore beneath the green bangs. Such a bratty, insignificant being... Once he was the Shaman King, he would be sure to wipe her out first.
That thought made him smile.
"Well, that's not very nice of you."

"Get in line buddy. You're not the only one that wants to kill me for the nightmares I caused Aya. Actually, I want to do it again." Sydra giggled, as she crept into Aya's mind. "He pain is so delicious."

Aya moaned in her sleep and Sydra pulled out leaving the memory she altered as it was.

"I would get the memories of that stupid cat out of her mind but she's a stubborn thing. She won't even let go of the memories of you." Sydra snapped.

Ren rolled his eyes, not amused by her sadistic language. It reminded him all too well of his own past, of his own sins against humanity.
"You shouldn't think like that. In the end, all it does is cause you mental pain. It will drive you insane." He said, making sure his steps were light.

"If you haven't noticed, I'm already insane. I plan on using Aya for my own sick game. No one can stop me because I can alter her memories anyway I want. I can even make so she forgets she has feelings for you." Sydra stated.

Ren's smile only grew, his eyes hidden behind his bangs. That's all he wanted... He didn't want Aya to be questioning herself over two men. Let alone one that... Didn't deserve her. Leo was a very brave and noble man, whereas Ren hid behind insults and harsh stares. Aya didn't need something like that in her future.
"It'll kill you."

Houka grinned. "Hey, I really don't care because you know what?" Houka asked, about to answer his own question. "I haven't seen you do one useful group whatsoever! At least I get people for us an recruit, you on the other hand..."

"Aww... You're boring. Oh, well. It doesn't matter. Leo's already messing up as it is." Sydra said, starting to correct the damage. "To be honest, Aya likes you because you're trying to conquer your demons. She finds it admirable but if you don't like her, less competition for me. I don't know how she can like the both of you so much when all you two seem to do is break her heart." Sydra stated, creating her feather.

Sydra turned and crossed her arms, with a happy smile across her face.

"Not gonna be much of a challenge if your gonna give up on her." Sydra stated.

"It's best not to be involved with anybody in the tournament," Ren stated, darkly. "After all, there can only be one Shaman King. I would hate to build a relationship with any of these people that I found to be too heavy, only to end up fighting them to the death in the end."

Eioku lightly ran her fingers through Ushio's dark hair, glaring up at Houka.
"You know, she ceased argument. It'd be a rather good example for those of us younger than you to shut your fucking mouth already," she said, sharply. "Stupid jackass."

"So what? Have you forgotten Aya's going to die? She has no intention of being Shaman King." Sydra stated. "Yes, I said it. She will die. She has nothing to live for. Leo left her for her enemy and you denied her. I can see why she resigned to her death."

Ren had to chuckle, a soft bit of laughter erupting from the pit of his throat that burned with pain. "Of course. We're all to die. It doesn't even matter. Most of us who enter the tournament... Will die. That's a given fact." He leaned his head back, looking up at the stars. "But you know... It'd be rather foolish of this girl to subdue herself to that over what some simpleton like you has to say. She's happy with him. She's ALIVE with him. That's all I care about. If she is to die, so be it. But the days that she spends breathing are to be held with joy."

"You really are boring." Sydra stated sending the feather toward Ren, "If you don't mind, I would like you to place her on this. She needs to sleep and you'll get tired carrying her."

Sydra's eyes narrowed.

"Guess I don't have to worry about you if you've given up on her." Sydra grumbled, slightly disappointed.

Ren snapped his head around, and in a sudden flash his spirit ally, bason, appeared in the air, forcing the feather away. "I don't need to put her down." Ren snarled, his grip on Aya growing tighter. "Just because I've surrendered all romantic thoughts doesn't mean that I'm going to let you have your way with her."
Leo isn't here to protect you, Aya, he thought, letting his eyes wander back down to the sleeping maiden in his arms. So I have to be.

"Why do you even care?" Sydra asked, with an emotionless face.

Ren shrugged, readjusting his hold on Aya.
"You're the mindreader. You tell me."
With that, he began to walk again.
"We should find a place to rest soon."

Sydra shrugged and followed.

"You sure you don't want me to carry her? I can." Sydra stated, "You'll wear out. No matter how much training you went through."

Bason reappeared behind Ren, staring at Sydra with a cross look.
"The Young Master said 'No.' You would do well as to pay attention."

"So what? He's not royalty... Well, anymore." Sydra smiled, climbing onto her feather. "Besides, what good is a general without his authority?"

Sydra winked at Bason before rising into the air. She scoped the area and saw a small town about 5 miles ahead of them. She returned to the ground and released her control.

"We're going in the right direction." Sydra smiled.

Ren didn't say anything. His mind was elsewhere. Remembering... his last words to Eioku.
"I just hope that you can live with yourself afterword, because by the looks of the way you're treating me, I'm not going to be around to support you."
He swallowed hard, realizing that he had only made things worse. Staring down at Aya, he began to wonder what his true motives were. What was it that he really wanted from all of this?

"...That's fine." he said, quietly.

Sydra sighed. Aya had Leo and now, Ren only wanted her happiness.

'Aya should be able to walk now if I wake her up. Her mind is returned to the state it was before. If not, Ren can help her.' Sydra thought. 'Time to wake up, princess.'

Aya sighed and began to wake up. She looked up at Ren and blushed. She rubbed her eyes and looked at Ren's chest.

"Ren, you can put me down." Aya whispered.
