"It's too bad that you befriended a traitor. It's even more pitiful that that old man would lock you up in a simulated worldspace because you were unwanted. He could then use you as a test subject for his 'newest invention' as he told us." explained the leader.

"Though you may have ill fate, all you've got to do is bear it all and move on. You cannot change your fate- no man can. Oh, and one more thing- you cannot escape The Apocalypse...." said the leader, rising and melting into the darkness of the open door behind him. Meanwhile, two assassins tossed Luke into the back of a weathered truck.

The old truck began to start but failed. This happened many times. At that moment, a very weak cough came from the old man. He was alive.

There was no cap or cork on the bottle tip. The old man simply stuck the vial in his mouth and drank of the thick, foul-smelling liquid. About a fourth into the bottle, the old man stopped bleeding but remained on the ground in pain. "L.....Luke......is........alive........." he mumbled, his voice shaking.

It was no different from the artificial landscape she had been living in for a decent portion of her life.

Nothing was different- except the temperature. It was far colder in E. West Siberia than where Anna used to live.
The old man's house was isolated. His only visitor was a muddy road.
